Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that the government is contesting the case of Kashmiri brothers under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing a protest rally organized by PFUJ, APNEC and RIUJ against Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir, Awan said that the government is taking the Kashmir case to international forums as India has not lifted curfew and is committing human rights violations in the occupied valley.

The rally was attended by a large number of journalists who were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against atrocities in Indian-held Kashmir.

Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to label the struggle as a freedom movement. She said that the world terms Prime Minister Imran Khan as spokesman of Kashmiri brothers and sisters. She added the PM reviews the progress of Core Group of Kashmir Committee on daily basis.

"We are standing firm with Kashmiris and would go to every extent for independence of Kashmiris," she said, adding that Pakistanis feel the problems and brutalities being faced by Kashmiris.

She said that the visit of media persons to Line of Control (LOC) will help activate the international media. Awan said that media should be given access to the held valley so that the world could know about the situation on the ground. Narendra Modi is acting like Hitler and the media should highlight the oppression and atrocities being perpetrated by his forces in Occupied Kashmir, she added.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur speaking on the occasion said that international community needs to play its role to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute. "Regional peace is interlinked with resolution of Kashmir issue," he said.

He said that Modi government has converted occupied Kashmir into a jail and there are reports that they are killing innocent people. He said that Pakistan Army, people and government are standing firm with people of Kashmir.
